If you're going to be near San Francisco or San Jose this week, check 'em out.

I'm hoping to take a moment or two to see a film. Particularly since Mai works there and can help me get into a few. Maybe the following?

Oldboy (2003) - IMDB
This movie keeps getting mentioned around the flogosphere (Film blogosphere? Yes, I did go there-) with high expectations and fiercely mixed reviews. Okay. I'm intrigued. Violent, they say. Very violent and horrific. Sure, maybe, but after the last few minutes of Audition I feel I can watch almost anything.

Sorceress of the New Piano (2004)
About Margaret Leng Tan a passionate musical avant-gardeist who became, among other things, the world's first professional toy pianist.

20:30:40 (2004) - IMDB
Sure, the movie's title seems intentionally structured like a verbal analogy on a standardized test but it's getting excellent reviews. And, hey, I'm a sucker for moving-thru-ages movies. (See also Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring (2003).)
